Destroy the Joint destroyed by true people power

As Paul Sheehan notes, Alan Jones is back on top commercially. Of course correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation, so this may be due in major part to factors other than public resentment towards the boycotting campaign. But one thing's for sure: Destroy the Joint has failed dismally to achieve its goal of bitching, moaning and nagging the Sydney broadcaster off air.

I knew that the censorious, slacktivist campaign would ultimately fail. But I didn't think this outcome would be clear quite so soon. So it's a pleasant surprise.

Deep down the gimlet-eyed, hatchet-faced communards who dreamt up this vicious pile-on must be spitting even more chips than they normally are. That's a funny thought.

Still, like Bob Brown talking up even negative election results as positives for the Greens, they'll claim it was a success. They do that to keep their spirits up, and also because they are totalitarians who think that "a thousand repetitions make a truth". Ironically, they themselves are the only ones simple-minded enough to believe their repetitions. What a tragic psychological state to be in!

One of the lies they tell themselves in the hope that it will catch on and "go viral" in the minds of the masses is that their tightly controlled and centrally managed online bitchathon was a true act of "people power". But it was the opposite. If anything, the true collective act of people power in this case was all those listeners, consumers and business people refusing to go along with their nasty little campaign.

It really shows the power of the individual, doesn't it? One man in his seventies against thousands, most of whom are half his age and younger. And he wins!

You'd think they might learn from this. But nup. They'll just redouble their efforts next time, and make it even more clear what a pathetic pack of tiny-minded bullies they are.

  1. Great article Matt. You have described these cretins, and their failed bully tactics, to the letter. TO their credit at least they do "Movember". This is the first time I have read your blog ,very enjoyable and I will foward your link to my many friends. I know they'll love your work.

  2. You really don't get it, do you? Reports of our deaths are a little premature. What there is now is a large group of people who have come together, from all walks of life, and all political persuasions (and some of none at all). Some are even conservatives. Who have made a commitment to call out bullying and sexism. It ain't over yet, by a long shot.

    1. Comprehension is not your long suit is it Linda? Hypocricy yes, comprehension no. Or were you so righteously indignant that you didn't read the last paragraph about re-doubling your efforts? Which ever it was the tactics used against Jones were bullying and you came unstuck. I don't particularly like Alan Jones but he has a right to express his opinions. Heard the old bit about I might not agree with what you say but I'll defend your right to say it? An idea lost on the left and the control freaks apparently. If you can find a commercial radio station to take you on as a presenter then you can broadcast your opinions and the rational part of the community can call you up and debate your point of view - just find the station and the sponsors.

    2. from all walks of life eh Linda? Including Micky mouse and Donald Duck amongst others that signed your pathetic petition. Funny when a REAL Woman Statesperson spoke in Parliament this week and then was disgracefully character asassinated by the Labor rabble all I could hear was crickets chirping from you left wing harpies. Only support Fabians do we ?

    3. Linda. Peter Slipper's comments reminded me of the dirty old men many women of my age had to put up with when we first started work many years ago. Many women of my age recognise the Peter Slippers types. What "knicker do you have on today love" . We had no sexual harassment laws to assist us. It was "just a bit of fun". The man has now been placed on a foreign affairs committee. Women will have to deal with him knowing what he thinks of their genitals. Please tell me when are you going to start a Facebook page to get rid of him. I do not need a reminder of those days in parliament and I certainly do not want my tax dollar spent on him. There is nothing about him on Destroy the Joint. Please do not claim to be the new superheroes of the feminist movement when you can turn a blind eye to this disgusting little man still sitting in parliament. You are just another biased group with your own agenda and very hypocritical as well.

  4. Hey Matt,
Very interesting reading, and I appreciate Your view point and agree too. You talk about Alan Jones, who is not totally to your liking. I, on the other hand admire him to a degree. Not many people, serve to help others as he does. Destroy the Joint loonies, only serve themselves and don't give a eff about anyone else. A pox on these oxygen thieves.

  5. Great blog Matt, thank you. I agree that Destroy the Joint's vindictiveness backfired on them. Their silly name says it all. I FULLY support Alan Jones. Will be following your blog and Facebook too.

  6. I have it on good authority the NSW police are watching 'these nut cases , I recall when the Muslims were rioting in our streets a few weeks back, the police said then, "We are keeping an eye on any group who has been inciting hatred and violence against other Australians through the use of FB, Twitter, SMS, etc.... It is well know that DTJ has been inciting violence, playing sick vicious pranks against families and businesses who have been advertising on Jones show, the DTJ vipers calling for boycotts to destroy others is now out there for all to see! By using these Nazi style tactics, DTJ ( and Labor) they have proven the are against free speech. I was recently abused by Jenna Price on Twitter, I was having a conversation with one of their victims when Price spammed our conversation. I told her she was against free speech, she then fired back" THere are limits to free speech in this country' I fired back yes, but apparently those limits do not apply to you! Your 'Animal Farm" idea of " free speech" is despicable! "

  7. I think this whole tragic mess is indicative of a political climate/atmosphere that has been created by the one and only John McTernan. Dirty low politics that the Government should be ashamed of, do they honestly think it's a good look - wrong- as has been shown but the public reaction to the Alan Jones affair. It wouldn't surprise me if J Mc is behind all of this. He has form from the UK doing the same dirty tricks for Labour against David Cameron (Conservative)the same phrases, words, class war, sexist --- need I go on, just google him and see. How low can this Government go?

  8. What is scary is that there are so many fools that believe DTJ is a spontaneous "protest group" and not in fact a carefully crafted Labor propaganda organ with Labor paid employees as the real administrators. What is doubly scary is those blind fools also vote !!!!!

  9. G'day folks,
Did you catch the PM's new mantra to bash the opposition with yesterday, 3 "S" in the house.
One was sleaze, then something and something else. I don't think "working families" (the working poor), "moving forward" (back to Howard policy) or a new three "s" mantra is going to work. Maybe they could try the 3 "R's"?
